What this site does with your information, described accurately and briefly.
This page describes what happens to your information when you use soberboymusic.com. It is written to be accurate about this particular site rather than to cover every possibility, and it is deliberately short, because the site does very little with your data.
Who is responsible
This site is operated by Farhad B., performing as Soberboy, based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. For any question about your information, or to exercise any of the rights below, email booking@soberboymusic.com.
What is collected, and when
When you send an enquiry
The booking, consultancy and contact forms ask for your name and email address, and depending on the form may ask for your venue, your city, a date and your message. All of it is optional in the sense that nothing is collected unless you type it in and press send.
What you send is emailed to booking@soberboymusic.com and stored in this site’s database so the enquiry can be found again later. It is used to answer you and to arrange the work you are asking about, and nothing else.
When you join the mailing list
Only your email address. It is used to send occasional messages about dates, releases and mixes. It is not used for anything else, and every message includes a one-click unsubscribe link.
When you simply read the site
The forms use a small number of anti-spam checks — a hidden field, a timestamp and a simple arithmetic question. These look at what is submitted with the form, not at you.
Like almost every web server, the hosting provider records standard access logs, which include your IP address, the page requested and your browser type. These are kept by the host for a limited period for security and troubleshooting.
Analytics
This site uses Google Analytics 4 to count visits and see which pages are read. It reports on visitors in aggregate rather than individually, and Google Analytics 4 does not store full IP addresses. It is used to understand which parts of the site are useful, and nothing more.
Microsoft Clarity is supported by the site but is not currently switched on. If that changes, this page will be updated before it is enabled.
If you would rather not be counted, an ad blocker, a tracking-blocking browser, or blocking cookies for this site will all prevent it. Everything on the site works exactly the same either way.
Content embedded from other services
Some pages embed content from Spotify, SoundCloud, Mixcloud, YouTube and Instagram. When a page containing one of these loads, or when you press play, that company receives your IP address and may set its own cookies, exactly as if you had visited their site. This is outside the control of this site and is governed by their own privacy policies.
What is not done
Your information is never sold, rented or traded. There is no advertising on this site and no advertising network is given your data. There is no profiling and no automated decision-making. Nothing you send is passed to any third party except the service providers listed below, who only process it in order to run the site.
Who processes data on this site’s behalf
- The web host — stores the site, its database and the server access logs.
- The email provider — delivers enquiries and mailing list messages.
- Google — provides the analytics described above.
These providers process information only to deliver their service, and may store or process it outside the UAE, including in the European Union and the United States.
How long information is kept
Enquiries are kept for as long as they may reasonably be needed — a booking conversation is often picked up again months later — and are deleted once they are not. Mailing list addresses are kept until you unsubscribe, at which point the address is removed. Analytics data is retained according to the period set in Google Analytics, and it is not tied to a name.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of the information held about you, ask for it to be corrected, ask for it to be deleted, or ask that it stop being used. Email booking@soberboymusic.com and it will be dealt with within a reasonable time and at no cost.
If you are in the European Union or the United Kingdom, the General Data Protection Regulation gives you these rights, and the lawful bases relied on here are your consent (mailing list) and legitimate interests (answering an enquiry, keeping the site secure). You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
Children
This site is aimed at adults and at people booking music professionally. It is not directed at children, and information is not knowingly collected from them.
Security
The site is served over an encrypted connection (HTTPS) and access to the database and the mailbox is restricted. No website can promise perfect security, but the information here is limited to what is genuinely needed, which is the most effective protection available.
Changes
If what this site does with information changes, this page is updated and the date at the top changes with it.
